Expecting Failures

Have you ever wanted something so badly, you practically feel like you could just have some powers to wish it come true? I know I have, quite a number of times infact. And thinking of it, I am just reminded of the on going Tusker Project Fame competitions. To be honest Doreen is inspiring. It may look like she is that cat with nine lives that just keeps getting lucky. But when you think of it, she has landed on probation so many times but has not let go of her resilience. To me she  is simply  pressing on and hoping hard that she will get that which she truly desires out of the competition. In my opinion hers is the story that just affirms Winston Churchill's words,
"Success is the ability to go from one failure to another  with no loss of enthusiasm."
All this made me think, much as we always expect to be the very best in our ventures do we also expect failure somewhere along the way? Imajine much as we would want to be, no one is flawless at everything. We are all trying to smoothen out those rough edges daily. Sometimes we succeed, sometimes we don't. Cest la vie! ( it's life)
Our readiness to fight and battle all the obstacles that will be in our path to success does not guarantee victory in every engagement. Nevertheless it does not mean that we just anticipate to fail. NO! Infact I cheer all on to dream of sucess every minute , however if dissapointments occur remember that nothing is beyond repair for the person who trusts in God. Nothing is ever totally lost because God knows how to put things right if we remain humble.
Therefore in all we do, let us not be shocked to discover our fraility or how easily we may sometimes break down. Be confident that God will always come through because His power is made manifest at that point of or weakness.

Feelings...

You have probably heard it said before, "You cannot get much done in life, if you only work on the days you feel good."
In life, we cannot afford to always go by feelings. We must not allow ourselves to become slaves to every plea of our bodies. This is where temperance and self-control come in action. Many are the times I have woken up in the morning and the only thought in mind is, "Really, do I have to get up this early and worse yet in these cold days of July?." But yes I had to get up and face the new day...HaHaHa ok....let me not strech it too much, I equally have my lazy days where all I want to do is rest or just be lazy. But those days have had their share of consequences. That one time that I chose to sleep in or snooze the alarm or just lazy around....yeah i faced the music, coming back to the realityof a pile of work that is incomplete. Well, it is true and wise to master ourselves and overcome those small whines and temptations. After all, self discipline is a choice. It is not the mountains we conquer, but ourselves.
Recently  I attended a talk which made so much sense. Its like a light bulb just lit in me after hearing all that had been said. Mmmmhhh lets just say it was an Ahaaaaaaa moment or like we call it in the communication world "Click Whaar " moment. Here goes what was said, "A horse will always need a horse rider and the horse rider in turn cannot be without the horse. So just as the two go hand in hand, so is it with human beings when it comes to controlling our feelings. It does not matter what kind of feeling. It may be in regards to relationships or even to the small innocent feelings we get.  The bottomline is that we are the horse riders and our feelings are the horse. the same way the horse rider must control the horse and keep it on track, so must we with our feelings, emotions and fears."
We must refuse to go by the notion of, I am doing A,B,C because I feel like it. Our actions and decisions must be guided by greater reasoning and not because we simply feel. Take control, be incharge!

To be born is a fact. To live is not obvious, it's a choice.

To be born is indeed a fact. To live is not obvious but a choice that one makes. This is a statement that holds so much truth, yet known to very few. Most people go by the illusion that since they exist in the world, they are actually living. Well...yes we are all entitled to our own opinions and interpretations of the statement but I choose to look at it from a different perspective. In order to have a fulfilled life, we must purpose to make an impact in the lives of others each day. In other words, if what you did yesterday still seems big today, then you have done nothing today. To live is to understand that the daily challenges of life are there to shape and mold us into better people, it is to allow ourselves to grow through the challenges we face. It has never been easy to embrace challenges but once we do, things take a different turn because we become in charge and do not allow ourselves to be driven by mere emotions but by prudence in making rational decisions. We become the masters of our own destiny.
Unless we allow ourselves to learn from the past challenges, we will never move to the next level of our lives. we become stagnant, just existing through life because we have not created room for growth. To live is to grow.
An attitude of gratitude is also very important in life. One who is living will always find reason to appreciate all those around him or her. Appreciating the daily happenings of life, whether small or big, good or bad will help us be better people. After all it is said all things do happen for a reason, of which we may not fully comprehend at that particular moment but some where along the journey of life, we will  get a better understanding of all our situations. It is the attitude of gratitude that will make the difference in life. just like a butterfly we must spread our wings and fly...so let us all purpose to live cheerfully.
